i’ve been a fan of the 5 piece french wardrobe thing ever since i first heard of it a few years back. it’s basically a method that says: buy less, buy smart. it derives from french women who spend more money on garments but buy much fewer overall. according to this stereotype french women tend to have smaller wardrobes with high quality garments, that can all be combined with each other. the key element is to own basic pieces and basics with a twist – a very minimal idea that i love! this is my personal basic wardrobe list, that i’d love to complete this year:
Shirts: black, white, grey simple tees and breton (striped) longsleeves
Blouse: classic white button-up shirt
Trousers: blue/black jeans and leather trousers
Knits: knitted cardigan and jumper
Outerwear: leather jacket and wool coat
Shoes: black ankle boots, sneakers (converse) and ballerinas
Accessories: red lipstick, silver/gold watch, black leather bag, black sunnies
